Let’s do the MetaMorphing Warp again!

MetaMorphing by MoonVooDoo

“Awakening is not a thing. It is not a goal, not a concept. It is not something to be attained. It is a metamorphosis. If the caterpillar thinks about the butterfly it is to become, saying ‘And then I shall have wings and antennae,’ there will never be a butterfly. The caterpillar must accept its own disappearance in its transformation. When the marvelous butterfly takes wing, nothing of the caterpillar remains.” ― Alejandro Jodorowsky

Show us Metamorphosis they said as though it was the simplest thing in the world to do.

Okay, no problem, I’ve got a whole archive of shots which capture it… no, that was a before pic… no, that’s an after pic… that’s in between, so… but too blurry… hang on a minute… no, that… no idea what that is but I’d better delete it.

We all do the MetaMorphing Warp… sometimes several times in a day. Sometimes we feel like we’re shrinking, sometimes expanding, sometimes imploding and sometimes exploding. And sometimes our skin feels as though it is being ripped off of us so we can grown beyond its confines. It’s exhausting and exhilarating, and sometimes so subtle we hardly notice until we do a retrospective review of ourselves.

The quote above comes from the director of a cult film – El Topo (1970) – considered to be the starting point in a cinematic phenomenon known as Midnight Movies. There is an excellent documentary –  Midnight Movies: From the Margin to the Mainstream (2005) – which I recently watched which charts the birth and rise of Midnight movies, shows the most famous ones and how they came into being and… how they brought about a metamorphosis of film.

The video below is one of my favourite songs from one of those films…

Time Warp – Rocky Horror Picture Show

Metamorphosis… we all do it, everything on Earth does it because Earth itself does it… it is a natural movement and urge.

“And I imagine… with great pleasure… all the horrible stirrings of the nonmanifested to bring forth the scream which creates the universe. Maybe one day I’ll see you trembling, and you’ll go into convulsion and grow larger and smaller until your mouth opens and the world will come from your mouth, escaping through the window like a river, and it will flood the city. And then we’ll begin to live. ” ― Alejandro Jodorowsky

Here’s wishing you a very Happy Metamorphosis!
