Internet Treasures: The Gunfighter… and those pesky voiceovers!

The Gunfighter by Eric Kissack

Found via my partner (pardner) who found it via a Twitter tweeter who found it via ShortoftheWeek.

If you love Westerns and grew up on a regular dose of them like I did, and imagined yourself in the role of a cowboy always on the verge of getting involved in a gunfight with other cowboys…

…everyone’s always trying to prove they’re the quickest gun…

…and sometimes you still sort of feel that way in your journey through life, moseying along and then someone gets offended, or sommit like that, by the way you’re wearing yer hat or how you’re walking, talking… or not talking, or chewing on yer cigarillo…

…then you might enjoy this short film. It’s funny… funny-ha-ha and just plain ole strange in a wonderful way and if you don’t piss yer britches or scare yer horse or fall over dead from laughing… then you don’t.

But I did… all of the above and so much more…

Seriously though… that voiceover is pure genius. Imagine if life and our everyday interactions came with such a voice spilling all our secrets and spewing all our shames, guilts and such all over the place in public for all to hear… equalising us, showing that no man or woman is better than or worse than… just different than and yet not so different than…

Oh wait… it sort of does in the form of our internal narrative, only we tend to keep that to ourselves. What a darn shame that is… or maybe it’s for the best. Who knows…
