A local village for local people… there’s nothing for you here!

Have you ever watched the TV series – The League of Gentlemen – ?

If you haven’t… … …?

If you have… then you’ll know the kind of village in which I live and the sort of welcome which you’ll get if you venture into these here parts.

.

I’m kidding… maybe.

.

Call a place ‘paradise’… and you might as well… kiss it goodbye.

.

The locals are very welcoming, almost too welcoming… it can be very unnerving, especially if you travel here from a city.

From a city (or community) which thinks kindness is rare and random, and values such acts as special… a specialness done deliberately by those who value it for its unusual specialness which confers unusual kudos points for committing random acts of unusual special kindness… which are kind of creepy in cities and communities where special random acts of highly valued kindness are a little bit suspect.

.

The chances of you traveling here in any other way than deliberately are slim.

Which is one of its appeals.

The kindness here is not deliberate. Or special. Or unusual. Or for kudos points. Or any thing other than people being people. Locals being local to both strangers and other locals.

.

Many of the locals aren’t local… were not local once upon a time but now they are because that’s just the way this place is.

.

You can be yourself here. Can you handle that kind of pressure… … …?

.

Sounds great (maybe)… but it can be very unnerving to those who are not accustomed to such things.

.

Kindness around these here parts is considered normal and very ordinary.

Nothing special.

.

Keep moving, nothing to see here, no kudos points for you!

.

You’re welcome… maybe.
