Love is a Doing word…

Love is a doing word… and the heart loves a new challenge.

I would like to thank the beautiful soul who inspired me to do this. They messaged me on tumblr and, as I replied, what they had shared with me swirled within the place where I listen and a spark set light to a new idea. They mentioned the chakras and creativity, particularly phototherapy… and suddenly I had a new photography project.

Please feel free to join in, if your heart desires, in any medium which expresses you.

If you’re using photography or graphics, the symbols for the chakras are available from this site – Chakra Symbols – many thanks to phong for creating and sharing these.

Here’s the challenge – Pick a chakra and express it, what it means to you and how you perceive it, experience it, etc.

I’ve started with the Heart chakra – Anahata.

The words below are those associated with this chakra from this site – Kheper.net (the link takes you to the Anahata chakra entry) – and I have chosen some quotes which for me express the each word.

.

.
1 – lustfulness

“She looked like the kind of woman I could fall in love with. Trouble is, she was standing next to the kind of woman I’d like to make love to.” ― Jarod Kintz

.

2 – fraudulence

“She knows the rituals, she knows how we’re supposed to be behaving…But I think these things are impenetrable and fraudulent, and I can’t do them without feeling I’m acting.”― Margaret Atwood

.

3 – indecision

“Can you define “plan” as “a loose sequence of manifestly inadequate observations and conjectures, held together by panic, indecision, and ignorance”? If so, it was a very good plan.”― Jonathan Stroud

.

4 – repentance

“You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
for a hundred miles through the desert, repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves.”― Mary Oliver

.

5 – hope

“Listen to the mustn’ts, child. Listen to the don’ts. Listen to the shouldn’ts, the impossibles, the won’ts. Listen to the never haves, then listen close to me… Anything can happen, child. Anything can be.”― Shel Silverstein

.

6 – anxiety

“Anxiety is love’s greatest killer. It makes others feel as you might when a drowning man holds on to you. You want to save him, but you know he will strangle you with his panic.”― Anaïs Nin
.

7 – longing
“When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opened for us.”― Helen Keller

.

8 – impartiality

“He who experiences the unity of life sees his own Self in all beings, and all beings in his own Self, and looks on everything with an impartial eye.”― Gautama Buddha

.

9 – arrogance

“We’re so self-important. So arrogant. Everybody’s going to save something now. Save the trees, save the bees, save the whales, save the snails. And the supreme arrogance? Save the planet! Are these people kidding? Save the planet? We don’t even know how to take care of ourselves; we haven’t learned how to care for one another. We’re gonna save the fuckin’ planet? . . . And, by the way, there’s nothing wrong with the planet in the first place. The planet is fine. The people are fucked! Compared with the people, the planet is doin’ great. It’s been here over four billion years . . . The planet isn’t goin’ anywhere, folks. We are! We’re goin’ away. Pack your shit, we’re goin’ away. And we won’t leave much of a trace. Thank God for that. Nothing left. Maybe a little Styrofoam. The planet will be here, and we’ll be gone. Another failed mutation; another closed-end biological mistake.”― George Carlin

.

10 – incompetency

“Evil turned out not to be a grand thing. Not sneering Emperors with their world-conquering designs. Not cackling demons plotting in the darkness beyond the world. It was small men with their small acts and their small reasons. It was selfishness and carelessness and waste. It was bad luck, incompetence, and stupidity. It was violence divorced from conscience or consequence. It was high ideals, even, and low methods.”― Joe Abercrombie

.

11 – discrimination

“The way to maintain one’s connection to the wild is to ask yourself what it is that you want. This is the sorting of the seed from the dirt. One of the most important discriminations we can make in this matter is the difference between things that beckon to us and things that call from our souls.”― Clarissa Pinkola Estés

.

12 –  an attitude of defiance

“For a moment everything was clear, and when that happens you see that the world is barely there at all. Don’t we all secretly know this? It’s a perfectly balanced mechanism of shouts and echoes pretending to be wheels and cogs, a dreamclock chiming beneath a mystery-glass we call life. Behind it? Below it and around it? Chaos, storms. Men with hammers, men with knives, men with guns. Women who twist what they cannot dominate and belittle what they cannot understand. A universe of horror and loss surrounding a single lighted stage where mortals dance in defiance of the dark.”― Stephen King
