Extraterrestrials can be found on my doorstep on such a regular basis that I’ve considered moving just to get away from their knock, knocks…

I guess I should be thankful that they’re not trying to sell me something, like a joke to which they then want the generous payment of a laugh from me.

I live in one of those places which used to be known for its plethora of UFO sightings, until the government said – We have a lot of Airforce bases (some of which are unofficial) in that area, and we test things which can fly there – and this bored everyone and they stopped imagining that they were seeing interesting things.

Usually these extraterrestrials are lost and need directions.

That’s one of the reasons I like living here… extraterrestrials get lost.

And it’s easy to get rid of them by giving them what they want, and not having to worry about them coming back for more, as in this case giving them what they want makes them go away and stay away… because they didn’t want to be here in the first place.

.

“Don’t ask for guarantees. And don’t look to be saved in any one thing, person, machine, or library. Do your own bit of saving, and if you drown, at least die knowing you were heading for shore.”
― Ray Bradbury

.

But if one of these extraterrestrials decided that I had to give them a book, film or song recommendation to help them understand humans…

Well…

I’d pause for a while and wonder if I was going to be helpful or unhelpful.

Just because someone asks you a question… doesn’t mean you have to answer it.

“You have to know how to accept rejection and reject acceptance.”
― Ray Bradbury

Then…

I’d probably just tell them to read, watch, and listen to human creations which reveal what humans think of extraterrestrials.

If you want to figure someone out… find out how they figure you out, how they see you and your kind – that’ll tell you all you need to know about them and their kind.

  1. Oh my goodness… lol. I think.

I live a couple hours away from Roswell. As for aliens, I got in trouble talking about that, so… MUMS the word. 😉

    • Ah, Roswell… the mother of all conundrums and mystery!

The area I live in isn’t even remotely as interesting as Roswell. The old local stories about aliens and UFOs are easily explained by the many airbases. A plane or helicopter practising maneouvres in the dark and stillness of a rural night is the sort of thing which stokes the embers of imagination.

Do aliens exist… why not? But are they as humans imagine them to be? 🙂

  2. I had an extraterrestrial knock on my door this evening pretending to be doing the census. They are so clever! This one was dressed up like a little old lady. But never mind. I’m more clever. I told her that I wasn’t really here, that she was just seeing a video of me, and that no one else was, either. I think I fooled her because as she left she started mumbling about the useless nutbars this job is exposing her to. 😉

(I’m not sure where that came from! 🙂 )
