It Interferes With Being Nuts

What interferes with being nuts? – you ask, because what else are you going to ask, and you’re definitely asking something so it must be that…

maybe it’s not,

maybe you’re not asking anything,

you’re just out taking a stroll (sitting down) and you ended up walking (with your fingers) by here… and here sucked you into now’s drama.

Anyway back to the question you’re not asking but you’ve been assigned it anyway, and now for the answer…

.

β€œI try not to think. It interferes with being nuts” – Leo Valdez”
― Rick Riordan

.

I’m not really sure that’s the answer, it’s an answer but not the answer… not my the answer. It’s his the answer… and while I can sort of understand his point, perceive the rightness within it and therefore I won’t accuse him of being wrong, if I were to practice that new business practice which is trying to make us think it’s brand new and no one has ever done anything like this before, but they have, in fact they did it so much before it ended in murder (at least a TV show showed it ending in murder), and may also be what got a certain someone into a certain office…

if all of that sound nuts, blame it on thinking, if I didn’t think I’d be totally sane…

So, where was I… apparently ‘Radical Candor’ is the new ‘Radical Honesty’ or ‘Radical Authenticity’… and apparently we’re still using ‘Radical’ to make other words sound… radical?

When will humans stop thinking that being candid, honest, authentic is radical? It’s not. And yes, I’ve probably thought that too. Most people do it all the time, but they think they’re not doing it somehow, especially once some charming talkster tells them they’re not and then sells them the cure for this disease – just say what you think! WOW! Gosh darn it I’ve never done that! OMG this is amazing how come no one else has ever come up with this incredible idea!?!

So if I were to practice ‘Radical Candor’ I’d say that… things like ‘Radical Candor’ are the kind of thinking which not only doesn’t interfere with being nuts but are examples of how thinking is actually nuts in full uninterrupted flow.

What do you think?

I’ve recently been trying out the ‘what if I don’t think about it’ approach with things I would normally think about just to see what happens.

  1. It says something about society that ‘candor’ and ‘honesty’ are things that can be radicalized or considered radical.

As for being nuts, it’s that kind of weekend.

    • Saw a film last night which you might enjoy – Lucy by Luc Besson – she’s an INTP-ish character who takes thinking to a whole new level.

What I find is that I’m okay when in my own world but as soon as I recall that there are alternate realities, as in everyone else in their own worlds, that’s when things go wonky. I think that may be the case for all of us, the sanity/insanity issue only comes up when we have to interact with others πŸ˜‰

      • I’ve seen Lucy. I rather enjoyed it — it received poor ratings. But I love Luc Besson. Especially Fifth Element, probably one of my favorite films ever.

The alternate realities bother me only after the fact — that’s when I’m like, what could I have done differently. A lot of things, which are very spur of the moment, I do based on gut instinct and compulsion — like being overwhelmed. Everything, every interaction goes to instinct and my gut. For instance, this morning, walking into work after having car issues this morning and just getting hit with thing after thing after thing — I cant sit down and accurately plan and analyze my moves. Then I agonize over it later after something catastrophic has happened, or when I’m being weird and pooky. Throw in some hormones, and that’s there recipe for a panic attack. Poor INTP’s when they have panic attacks. Even I don’t like being around me then. LOL.

        • I love Luc Besson’s work too πŸ™‚ Have you read his Wiki bio, the part about how he ended up making films is interesting. His films are very nourishing for an INTP!

Panic attacks tend to happen to all types, and no one likes being around themselves when they’re panicking. I’d say an INTP is kind of the best type to be when something like that hits as our type has an eject button which launches us outside of ourselves allowing us to observe what’s going on and study it. Most of my panics happen because I’ve been spaced out and suddenly realise that shit is happening and I’m not prepared for it and have no idea how to deal with it. Or I’ve been lost in thought and while under the influence of that I’ve wandered into territory ruled by other types whose systems are anathema to my type.

But panic is like anything else, it passes. It’s kind of like the cramps gas gives you, which is horrible when it’s happening, and what you need to do is fart it out, hoping you won’t explode in the process πŸ˜‰

  2. First of all, Happy Birthday, you radical Capricorn. πŸ˜‰ I hope that it was a good day and that you have many, many of them, not just on your birthday. πŸ™‚

Maybe sane is unusual and the rest of us think it’s insane because it’s rare. And the sane people become nuts anyway because everyone tells them they’re insane and they start thinking that they must be because they’re the odd ones. So then we’re all nuts and when we get mad we say, “You’re insane!” And we walk away feeling superior because we’re not insane and can tell the difference between sanity and insanity and we know we’re right. So the moral is that we all need to embrace the fact that DT is the sane one and we’re just … wrong. πŸ˜‰

To gauge sanity or insanity you have to use the very thing which is in question, sanity and insanity are states of the mind and the mind is the one deciding which is which, it’s the one who decided that there were these two states, it’s the one who keeps adding parameters to those two states, making it increasingly complicated to ever come to a conclusion.

DT is a bit like one of those glass boxes a mime gets stuck in.

Very true about sane/insane. We are the ones deciding and perhaps we even don’t know what we’re talking about. Maybe a bit like the fleas arguing over who owns the dog they’re living on.
