Liebster Award 2018 – Accepting the Love

Let me introduce you to Sadje of Keep It Alive. She is friendly, sociable, and goes out of her way to let people know when she likes their online creations. She has a great blog, writes wonderful posts, is very creative and inspiring, and she loves getting feedback. She’s a beautiful blogging soul!

I’m not just saying that because Sadje nominated me for a Liebster in her post – Another Liebster Award – please click on over to read it, wherein she has answered some weird questions in a refreshingly honest manner, and shared herself openly.

Thank you very much, Sadje, for sharing 🙂

Here are The Official Rules of the Liebster Award 2018 created by Jack of The Global Aussie – Please check out his Award post for more information and for links to other Liebster Award Nominees.

Here are the rules Sadje passed along:

  1. Acknowledge the blogger that gave it to you and display the award
  2. Answer 8 questions that the blogger gave you
  3. Give 8 random thoughts about yourself
  4. Nominate 8 other bloggers and notify them of their nomination
  5. Ask your nominees 8 questions.

In her post Sadje said that she didn’t like people who break the rules… ruh roh!

My nominees are (free to ignore the nomination):

Kalliope Kim of Modern Mystic Mother for This Is The Real Me.

Stoner on a Rollercoaster for Time Traveler.

Jet Eliot for California on Fire Again.

Glitterfluff of That Was Then for Dear Lauren.

Collective Cogitations for My Vices Won’t Solve My Problems.

Sharon of Her Name Means Wild for That PICU Nurse Life.

Alice of Alice At Wonderland for Remember How I Said Goodbye.

PTKT of The Patchwork Diaries for Bookish.

My questions for my nominees and anyone who would like some questions (take what you need and leave what you don’t need):

Q1: What is a question? (Q borrowed from The Philosopher’s Magazine) What does asking questions mean to you?

Q2: What is an answer? What do answers mean for you? How far will you go to get an answer?

Q3: What Would You Do First in This Situation? (see image below).

What would you do first? from Brightside

Each option has an interpretation attached to it which you will find by clicking over to : What Would You Do First in This Situation? The Result Can Reveal a Lot About You – there are additional questions asked by the site which are: How accurately do these characteristics describe your personality? Do you agree or disagree with all the descriptions?

Q4: How would you convince me that you are real and not just in my dreams? (Q borrowed from Philosophy Cambridge Interview Questions)

Q5: What is your favourite word? (Q borrowed from English Cambridge Interview Questions) Why is it your favourite word?

Q6: What does the following illustrated story mean to you? If you’re not sure – What was the first thought which popped into your mind about it?

Q7: Which god or goddess from mythology would you be and why? (Q borrowed from a comment on this post – Two Narcissists in a Relationship? – a personal story)

Q8: If you could be someone else, real or fictional, for a day, who would you be and why? What would you learn from being them? (Q inspired by Fandango’s Provocative Question #1)

And now for Sadje’s 8 Questions and my 8 answers:

How has writing affected your life?

As a child, once I learned to read and understand writing, it opened many doors and windows to other worlds, places, ideas, and introduced me to a plethora of interesting people, both real and unreal, whose words, thoughts, opinions and perspectives influenced and inspired me.

As an avid reader I’ve learned a lot through the writing of others.

As a blogger, writing posts has helped me to talk with myself in a new way, become a better listener to what I am saying (which isn’t always in the words, but hidden within the spaces between them). It’s allowed me to make some valuable connections, both on the inside and on the outside. With myself and with others.

Here’s a connection I made yesterday in a comment on a very interesting post – Guest Slot : ‘Unruly Tricksters of the Twelfth House’ by Jude Cowell  – I hope Anne doesn’t mind my screen-shotting and sharing it.

Do you have any hobbies?

Yes. I love trying to solve puzzles. I find it very relaxing even when it becomes stressful. I prefer the journey of attempting to solve a puzzle more than actually solving the puzzle itself. Although it can be very satisfying to solve it… and then the puzzle becomes – finding a new puzzle to try and solve.

My top two all time favourite video games are all about solving puzzles:

The Witness – this game was OMGorgeous OMGenius OMGasp!

The Talos Principle – this game was philosophy made super fun and addictive

Do you follow the social media?

Yes. Blogs are generally considered to be part of Social Media. I follow blogs, ergo I follow Social Media.

I like to browse the different forms of Social Media because it’s informative, it’s a way of observing what’s going on in collective consciousness and unconsciousness since we’re all a part of the whole.

On a relaxing day, do you prefer to go out to eat or order in?

Neither. My MBTI is INTP, a relaxing day for me means not having to think beyond the moment, not making any plans about anything, not having to remember practical things like eating.

If you were required to learn another language, which one would you choose and why?

If I was ‘required‘ to learn a language, I’d learn the language which I was required to learn since it would be compulsory, essential, and indispensable.

If I was feeling lazy, I’d hope that the required language was Spanish, since I’m fairly fluent in Italian and there are similarities between the two.

If I was feeling up for a challenge, I’d hope it would be Korean or Japanese. And not Russian or Greek because Cyrillic script would play havoc with my dyslexia (and vice versa).

List your 3 favorite writers whose work has affected your own writing?

“Think left and think right and think low and think high. Oh, the thinks you can think up if only you try!”

― Dr. Seuss

“I am so clever that sometimes I don’t understand a single word of what I am saying.”

― Oscar Wilde

“I have been and still am a seeker, but I have ceased to question stars and books; I have begun to listen to the teaching my blood whispers to me.”

― Hermann Hesse

Morning walk/ jog or evening gym?

Stairs. Up and down and up again and down again and… when you’re downstairs what you need is upstairs and when you’re upstairs everything is downstairs… hundreds of times a day every day… even when I had Lumpy the Kneelump (which is almost gone now… almost bye bye, Lumpy!)

What is your childhood dream that you still want to achieve or have achieved?

Let me think… – that’s what I used to say on a regular basis as a child, mostly to myself but also to others who were pressuring me to make a decision or something along those lines. I just wanted time to think about whatever it was I wanted or needed to think about.

I have not only achieved that but continue to do so because it is a practice requiring practice.

Other than that… hmmmm… let me think about it…

8 random thoughts about myself:

I need to pee.

I still haven’t bought that part…

My mind just went blank.

Maybe I should scrape that squished fly off the window… how long has it been there?

Where did I put that book of random thoughts… I tidied it away didn’t I, now I’ll never find it… not that I’m actually going to bother to look for it.

I need to remember to thank Rory for his shout out last night night folks

How long will it take me to forget what that scribble on that post-it means?

What a thought that was!!!!!!! should I share it, no, no, yes, yes… haha that guy from AC Odyssey I wonder who he’s based on…

Skip to 3:58 for the cut scene and dialogue with the Doctor (aka haha that guy from AC Odyssey):

That’s it from me…

I think I did everything I was supposed to do… if I didn’t no one will notice, right? (and that’s why I write such long posts… heh heh heh… that’s not totally nonsense)

I’m pressing the button on it…

Over to you!

    • Thank you, drtanya (or do you prefer to be called salted caramel?) 🙂

Congratulations on your blog award nom!

I followed the link on Sadje’s post the other day to your blog and decided to follow you. I liked the post you did about your blog journey thus far, I liked the honesty, and your relationship with your blogging buddy sounds sweet and supportive.

If you want to copy the style, feel free to do so, I did say ‘take what you need and leave what you don’t need’ in my post. In the blogging community being inspired by other bloggers, how they write, create posts, etc, is par for the creative course. Most bloggers don’t mind because they’re doing it too. As a blogger you experiment creatively until you find your own particular style which has been inspired by many.

What I keep in mind for my own posts is the fact that a lot of the people who view/read my posts aren’t WordPress bloggers, and therefore posts about blogging and blogging community activities may be boring for them – like they were for me when I wasn’t a blogger but I followed blogs.

It’s always worth remembering that you’re a person who browses/views/reads other blogs – what do you like when you’re surfing social media? What makes you stop and read a blog post?

    • Cool 😀 You’re the second person who has been wild and crazy enough to take up the challenge, so I’ve lost that bet with myself about no one participating twice… there are times when it is absolutely fantastic to lose 😉
