Mystery Blogger Award:

At first I thought it was me, it had to be me, it’s usually me, but then I realised that it wasn’t me at all it was you.

WordPress, it’s you, and you seem to be glitching out more than usual.

Perhaps you shouldn’t have changed your colours. I know the new outfit is bright, perfect to liven up the Winter months, but did you really need to create more… yes, yes, you did because this platform is all about creativity, and creativity always demands to create more.

It’s going to be tricky to solve the puzzles the new glitches are causing, but I love a creative challenge.

Let’s get to it.

Sadje of Keep It Alive, nominated my blog for a Mystery Blogger Award, in this post of hers: Mystery blogger Award Nomination # 3

Thank you very much, Sadje πŸ™‚

The Mystery Blogger Award was created by Okoto Oke Enigma – My Greatest Creation Yet: The Mystery Blogger Award – as a creative way to introduce her blog – Okotoenigmasblog – to others, and to discover other blogs which are ingenious, inspiring, motivating, and captivating.

RULES:

  1. Put the award logo/image on your blog
  2. List the rules.
  3. Thank whoever nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
  4. Mention the creator of the award and provide a link as well
  5. Tell your readers 3 things about yourself
  6. You have to nominate 10 – 20 people
  7. Notify your nominees by commenting on their blog
  8. Ask your nominees any 5 questions of your choice; with one weird or funny question (specify)
  9. Share a link to your best post(s)

3 things about myself:

#1 – I thought I’d follow some of the rules and flout the rest since that kind of behaviour is an essential rule of creativity.

β€œCreativity is intelligence having fun.”

― Albert Einstein

#2 – When I create a post, I never know what I’m going to do or say until I start doing it and saying it, which is one of the reasons I love blogging, it’s a constant experience of surprising the self with the self.

#3 – I’m not going to nominate, instead I’m going to share links to places I go when I’m creating a post and/or need some inspiration.

Sites I visit for creative inspiration:

The Atlantic – World Edition (interesting views of news. Sometimes an article will trigger a flow of thoughts which I then share in a post)

Wikimedia Commons (I use this regularly to find images to use as the featured image of a post. I also love exploring the works of creatives. Sometimes an image will become a prompt for a post)

Goodreads – quote search (great collection of quotes to use in posts, but also good food for thought. Sometimes I’ll just look up a word and see what comes up, then use a quote which catches my attention as a prompt for a post)

Internet Sacred Text Archive (it is a treasure trove of old texts and out of print books. Sometimes something I read will start an internal conversation which will then spill over into a post)

What’s Your Sign – Your Guide to Symbolic Meanings of All Kinds (an in-depth look at the meanings humans have given to things, animals, etc. Sometimes I’ll look up an animal or insect which drew my attention to it in a dream or in RL and something I read becomes inspiration for a post – one of the most popular posts on my blog is about the possible meaning of flies)

Sabian Oracle – Sabian Symbols (Sabian Symbols are a part of astrology. Two of my recent posts got their titles from a Sabian Symbol. If I’m feeling a bit blank, I’ll use the oracle and see what comes up. The creator of this oracle gives loads of key words and ideas with each result. If something stirs within while reading the result, I’ll write about that)

Sometimes while looking something up online I’ll end up somewhere which I think has great prompt potential for later, so I’ll bookmark it my IDEAS folder.

This is one of those – Mantelligence: 83 Hypothetical Questions – Fun, but nearly impossible to answer – the site seems to be sponsored by a wine company and I think it helps to be slightly tipsy when browsing the articles. It’s a goldmine for prompts.

Okay, I’m bored of doing that now, so your boredom threshold is probably being tested too.

Moving on.

Sadje’s 5 Questions:

If life offered a redo, what part of it will you want to change?

None of it. I’m finally at peace with things as they are, have been, and I enjoy figuring out the puzzles life as it is offers.

Can you remember what was the one thing you hated about school?

Yes. School for the most part made the activity of learning a very boring chore. Took me a while to undo the damage it had done to my love of learning.

Growing up, what was your dream profession/job?

Helicopter rescue pilot.

If you met your English teacher today, what would be her opinion about your blog?

I guess your English teacher was female, Sadje.

All of my English teachers were British, except for one who was American, and she would probably say: “I see you’re still ignoring my advice.” It drove her nuts that I would spell some words in British-English and other words in American-English (the words I learned in her class), she advised me to pick one or the other or else she’d give me F’s.

Would you rather be the frog prince/ princess or the ugly duckling?

I’d rather just be myself.

My 5 Questions for anyone who would like to answer them:

#1 – What is the best compliment you could get or have received for one of your creations?

#2 – Which creative person has had the most influence on you and your creativity?

#3 – Which work of art, literature, invention, song, film, etc, which has already been created do you wish you could have created?

#4 – Do you have a creative muse, someone who or something which never fails to get your creativity flowing? Do you want to share your muse or keep them a secret?

#5 – You find a book and begin to read only to discover that it is your life. You get to the point that you are at now, do you turn the page knowing that you will not be able to change the events to come? (weird-funny question from Mantelligence: 83 Hypothetical Questions)

Okay, that’s it from me…

Over to you!

  2. Congrats! Interesting questions you posed here! I enjoyed your responses and your inspirational links…

I’ve been exploring vedic astrology and natal charts recently and see if they have influenced my life in some way. I once got this book written by a Wiccan priestess about the symbolism behind the birds that you will see in your life. I guess I had a lot of dreams with various birds. I think it helps me reflect on life on a deeper level. I recently read an article on Quora which are the best compliments each MBTI type could receive. I guess I love when people pick a few details from my creations and it resonated with them. I guess I love when it evokes interesting discussions about life as well.

I had a really cool English teacher in high school that’s greatly influenced my creative life. She created fascinating projects like writing diary pages of Beowulf or conducted a large madrigal dinner where we in knighting ceremonies drinking wassail. She would share stories of how she would try to recreate Marilyn Manson’s wife’s wedding dress made with a rich violet velvet or her adventures creating her rock zen garden.

Mentioned this song in my challenge last month,I would have loved to invent this marble machine musical instrument that Wintergarten already made: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IvUU8joBb1Q

I’ve read a few books where the characters reminded me of myself which creeped me out sometimes and I keep reading because I want to know what the author is going to do to them! I would keep turning the page because I’m curious about the author’s writing style.

Love your answers! That musical instrument is amazing!!!

You English teacher sounds awesome. I had a couple of creative teachers like that which mitigated the effects of the ones who were bored of teaching and therefore made learning boring. One of the fun ones would often break a lesson into two halves, turning the second half into a game and we’d end up learning things without realising it.

I agree, it’s great when something you create sparks an interesting discussion, as then the creation becomes a brainstorming session leading to more creativity. I love it when my creations inspire others to create and their creation inspires me to create, and so on ;D

  3. Oh yes, the WP glitches had me too… hope to fix things by the weekend. The questions here are very interesting so I thought to serve you first an apΓ©ritif here πŸ˜‰

#1 – “Omg… I couldn’t have done it better.” (the story to this hmm…I recounted in the next post)

#5 – I will turn the page but not until I’ve added the pages with my version of the story to it since that’s my life. What had already happened up to the point now can’t be change, but there is the future unknown waiting to be written. I have the the Author’s Quill πŸ˜‰

Thank you for this wonderful post πŸ™‚

The glitches are inevitable since so much is being updated on WP. I like the new touches and the new editor so I’m kind of not as bothered by the mess as I might have been. While writing this particular post the ‘save’ feature was disabled for whatever reason, that was exciting and then it glitched when I pressed publish. I’m actually surprised the post didn’t vanish in a puff of cyber smoke πŸ˜‰

Love that you have the Author’s Quill – bravo! πŸ˜€
